Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) program is seeking a full-time, year-round lecturer (non-tenured faculty) to serve as course coordinator for an applied study class. This class combines an off-campus learning experience with an on-line class. This position involves administration and on-line teaching. BIS is a dynamic, growing, university-wide degree program in which students integrate two subject-area concentrations into a meaningful program. Program details available at www.asu.edu/duas/bis.
Required qualifications: Doctorate in related field, teaching, training or scholarship in interdisciplinary studies; and university or college teaching experience.
Desired qualifications: Internet proficiency, administrative experience, and experience with Blackboard or other on-line courseware.
Applicants must submit: 1) curriculum vitae; 2) a letter detailing teaching, administrative and computer experience; 3) three letters of recommendation (focusing on teaching more than on research) which include names, telephone numbers and addresses of reference; 4) a 1-page statement of philosophy about on-line education; 5) evidence of teaching effectiveness.
