I thought I'd forward this since it combines art and the brain. As you can
see, mentors get paid. Please direct questions to Catherine Aldridge at

In November, at-bristol is hosting a two one week programmes called 'Brain
Games' funded by NESTA (National Endowment for Science , Technology and the
Arts).

Pupils from two schools will each spend a week in Explore learning about how
their brains work, and then devising a game which demonstrates the amazing
abilities of their brains. They will use our exhibition as well as
at-Bristol's media and IT education facilities throughout their time here.
Games developers and brain scientists will also be involved during the week.

The first week (20-25 November) we are working with secondary students (age
14) The second week (27 November - 1 December) we are working with primary
students (age 11)

We are looking for keen science communicators who would be willing to act as
'mentors' during the two weeks. Mentors must be able to enthuse and motivate
a group of five or six young people throughout their project.

Ideally we would like people who would be able to work for at least one full
week to keep continuity, but we will also consider people who are available
for a 2 - 3 day period. You will be paid.

If you are interested, please send your CV and state your experience with
young people/communicating science and which dates you would be available.
Closing date: 3 November 2000.

Many thanks
