im surprised at peoples elevation of "art" to something beyond..
that which exists outside the context of politics and economics, its
certainly not my experience.i dont think i am particularly cynical
.rather more parctical.. which is why i am interrested in the hype
which also elevated the net.. cause its a messy polluted trashy
shopping mall most of the time and we are having a converstaion in
one tiny corner of it.. but then that itself has an inherent "beauty"
on the other hand yes "art" moves one.... and yes the experience is
uniquely spiritual in nature..
and its nice to simultaneously hold opposing views..
>Hmmmm, I'm not too sure about the consciousness on a stick thing, but
>it doesn't sound like the idea that artists represent the contents and
>processes of consciousness is completely incompatible with Melinda's
>list. However, I must admit that art seems to be most effective when
>it transcends most of those aspects. Art lends itself to be combined
>with all sorts of things, but I think it is a mistake to conflate that
>'aboutness' with art itself.
