John,
In posting my remark about "elementary particles arising from
relationships," I did not mean to imply that this is the last word on the
subject.
(I am not an absolutist; I am open to other possibilties). I introduced Lee
Smolin to the List because I found his work not only interesting but also
creative: his ideas are so far-fetched that the demarcation between art and
science becomes blurry: what is the difference between beautiful ideas and
beautiful works of art? Are beautiful ideas essential to our liking a work
of art? Lets not forget the role of the brain in art!
All the best,
David
